The present invention relates to pharmaceutical and veterinary compositions and methods using such compositions for the treatment of hypotension. Such compositions contain a catalyst for the dismutation of superoxide, including superoxide dismutase enzyme (SOD) and small molecular weight organic ligand mimics of that enzyme (SOD mimetics or SODms) which may be administered alone or in combination with a catecholamine pressor agent. Applications described include treatments for hypotension resulting from septic, cardiogenic, hypovolemic, anaphylactic or burn-induced shock treatments.
L'invention concerne des compositions pharmaceutiques et vétérinaires et des méthodes faisant intervenir ces compositions pour traiter l'hypotension. Ces compositions contiennent un catalyseur de dismutation de superoxyde, contenant l'enzyme superoxyde dismutase (SOD) et un ligand organique de faible poids moléculaire mimant l'enzyme (imitations SOD ou SODms), qui peuvent être administrés seuls ou associés à un agent vasopresseur de catécholamine. Les applications de l'invention concernent des traitements de l'hypotension résultant des traitements de chocs septiques, de chocs cardiogènes, de chocs hypovolémiques, de chocs anaphylactiques ou de chocs suite à des brûlures.
