The present invention relates to a substantially water-free preparation for administering urea in a tablet form, a capsule form or some other solid form. The preparation dissolves very quickly in the stomach. The preparation is used to demonstrate the presence of ammonia in exhalation air, deriving from increased urease activity in the stomach in conjunction with an existing Helicobacter pylori infection.
