It is intended to provide a skin composition for external use that contains an ascorbic acid derivative having a high stability, being continuously usable in vivo, having a strong antioxidant effect and showing little skin irritation and has an excellent skin permeability. A composition for external use characterized by containing 2-O-(.beta.-D-glucopyranosyl)ascorbic acid represented by the formula (I) or its salt or ester being safe to the human body together with optionally treated koji mold cells.

L'invention concerne une composition pour la peau à usage externe contenant un dérivé d'acide ascorbique de grande stabilité, pouvant être utilisé en continu in vivo, possédant un puissant effet antioxydant, provoquant peu d'irritations de la peau et parfaitement absorbé par la peau. L'invention concerne une composition à usage externe se caractérisant par le fait qu'elle contient de l'acide 2-O-(.beta.-D-glucopyranoxyl) ascorbique représenté par la formule générale (I) ou un de ses sels ou esters, par le fait qu'elle n'est pas nocive pour le corps humain et par le fait qu'elle contient également des cellules de koji éventuellement traitées.
