ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A composition for the prophylaxis and treatment of myopia, comprising a compound of the formula Image wherein R is alkyl, R1 is hydrogen or amino and R2 is carboxyl or tetrazolyl, or a salt thereof. The composition for the prophylaxis and treatment of myopia of the present invention not only shows relaxing action on the ciliary smooth muscle of rabbit, but also shows superior effects of prevention and treatment of myopia of the patients on whom Mydrin-M, a conventional preparation for the prophylaxis and treatment of myopia, failed to have effects. In addition, the comopsition does not show a mydriatic response and can be advantageously used for the prophylaxis and treatment of myopia.
