A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound having anti-endothelin activity is useful for the prophylaxis or treatment of cerebral infarction. The compound having anti-endothelin activity is a cyclic hexapeptide of the formula: (see fig. I) (in which X and Y are a D-, L- or DL-.alpha.-amino acid residue; A is a D-acidic .alpha.-amino acid residue; B is a D- or L-neutral .alpha.-amino acid residue; C is an L-.alpha.-amino acid residue; E is a D-.alpha.-amino acid residue having an aromatic ring).

Une composition pharmaceutique contenant un composé ayant une activité anti-endothéline utilisable à des fins prophylactiques ou pour le traitement de l'infarctus cérébral. Le composé ayant l'activité anti-endothéline est un hexapeptide cyclique de formule : (voir la fig. I) (où X et Y représentent un résidu de D-, de L- ou de DL-alpha-aminoacide; A, un résidu acide de D-alpha-aminoacide; B, un résidu neutre de D- ou de L-alpha-aminoacide; C, un résidu de L-alpha-aminoacide; E, un résidu de D-alpha-aminoacide porteur d'un noyau aromatique).
