A composition for restoring defects in calcified tissues comprises an amorphous bioactive particulate consisting essentially of calcium, silicon and oxygen. Said agent may be selected from the group consisting of : a) a reaction product of an organic silicate source and a source of calcium; b) a calcium containing hydrolysis product of tetraethylorthosilicate; c) a calcium containing silica sol-gel; d) a binary calcium oxide and silicate precipitated material; e) a synthetic analog of a naturally occurring wollastonite-like calcium silicate; and f) a precipitated reaction product of soluble calcium source and a silicate solution. A process for producing the amorphous bioactive particulate consists essentially of adding a sufficient amount of a solution of a soluble calcium source to a solution of a silicate or silicate precursor to cause a precipitation of calcium-containing silicate particulate.
L'invention concerne une composition destinée à réparer des défauts dans des tissus calcifiés, qui comprend une substance particulaire bioactive amorphe constitué essentiellement de calcium, de silicium et d'oxygène. Cet agent peut être sélectionné dans le groupe constitué par: a) un produit réactionnel d'une source de silicate organique et d'une source de calcium; b) un produit hydrolytique à base de calcium d'un tétraéthylorthosilicate; c) un sol-gel de silice contenant du calcium; d) une matière précipitée binaire à base d'oxyde de calcium et de silicate; e) un analogue synthétique d'un silicate de calcium naturel de type wollastonite; et f) un produit réactionnel précipité d'une source de calcium soluble et d'une solution de silicate. Un procédé de production d'une substance particulaire bioactive amorphe consiste essentiellement à ajouter une quantité suffisante d'une solution d'une source de calcium soluble à une solution d'un silicate ou d'un précurseur de silicate, afin de provoquer une précipitation de ladite substance particulaire de silicate à base de calcium.
