Myocardial perfusion is assessed quantitatively using a suspension of insoluble gas filled microspheres. In such use: the myocardium is ultrasonically imaged; the suspension of pressure-stable, water-soluble gas-containing microspheres sized to pass through the pulmonary capillaries is injected intravenously; imaging is continued through the first transit of the microspheres through the myocardium; the videodensity versus time relationship is determined from the images; and blood flow through the myocardium is calculated from that relationship.

Méthode d'évaluation du débit des perfusions myocardiques à l'aide d'une suspension de microsphères, insolubles à l'eau, remplies de gaz, piézostables, et de taille à traverser les capillaires des poumons. A cette fin, le myocarde est visualisé par ultrasons, puis ladite suspension est injectée par voie intraveineuse. La visualisation se poursuit jusqu'au premier transit des microsphères à travers le myocarde; le rapport densité visuelle/temps se déduit des images, et le débit sanguin à travers le myocarde se calcule en fonction dudit rapport.
