FB344331570US ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A composition of matter is disclosed for covering a roll of a papermachine. The composition defines a roll surface which physically contacts a web extending through the papermachine. The composition includes an elastomeric material and a plurality of hollow particles randomly dispersed within the material. The arrangement is such that a percentage of the particles are exposed to the roll surface. When the roll surface is machined, the percentage of particles are ruptured so that the roll surface is porous and so that sticking of the web to the roll surface is controlled.
