Disclosed are antibodies that specifically inhibit VEGF binding to only one (VEGFR2) of the two VEGF receptors. The antibodies effectively inhibit angiogenesis and induce tumor regression, and yet have improved safety due to their specificity. The present invention thus provides new antibody-based compositions, methods and combined protocols for treating cancer and other angiogenic diseases. Advantageous immunoconjugate and prodrug compositions and methods using the new VEGF-specific antibodies are also provided.
L'invention concerne des anticorps qui inhibent spécifiquement le VEGF se liant à un seul (VEGFR2) des deux récepteurs VEGF. Les anticorps inhibent efficacement l'angiogénèse et induisent aussi efficacement une régression de tumeur, tout en présentant une sécurité accrue du fait de leur spécificité. L'invention concerne par conséquent de nouvelles compositions à base d'anticorps, ainsi que des procédés et des protocoles combinés pour traiter le cancer et d'autres maladies angiogéniques. Elle concerne également des compositions d'immunoconjugués et de promédicaments ainsi que des procédés intéressants faisant appel aux nouveaux anticorps pour le VEGF.
