The present invention relates to methods for diagnosis or monitoring of viral infection by detecting the presence of transrenal viral nucleic acids or nucleic acids of viral origin in urine sample, with or without isolation of nucleic acids from a urine sample. The analysis of the nucleic acids is performed through hybridization of the nucleic acids with specific probes, or through a chain amplification reaction with specific primers. The methods are applicable to all viral pathogenic agents, including RNA, DNA, episomal, or integrated viruses.

L'invention concerne des procédés permettant de diagnostiquer ou de surveiller une infection virale par la détection de la présence d'acides nucléiques viraux transrénaux ou d'acides nucléiques d'origine virale dans un échantillon d'urine, avec ou sans isolement des acides nucléiques de l'échantillon d'urine. L'analyse des acides nucléiques est mise en oeuvre par l'hybridation de ceux-ci à l'aide de sondes spécifiques, ou par une réaction d'amplification en chaîne utilisant des amorces spécifiques. Les procédés peuvent être mis en oeuvre sur tous les agents pathogènes viraux, y compris l'ARN, l'ADN, les virus épisomiques ou intégrés.
