The present invention relates to the identification of a number of human genes as cellular targets for the design of therapeutic agents for suppressing human immunodeficiency virus infection. These genes encode products which appear to be necessary for HIV replication, as evidenced by an inhibition of HIV infection in cells in which the expression of these genes is down-regulated. In addition, the invention also relates to methods for identifying additional cellular genes as therapeutic targets for suppressing HIV infection, and methods of using such cellular genes and their encoded products in screening assays for selecting additional inhibitors of HIV.
La présente invention concerne l'identification de certains gènes humains comme cibles cellulaires pour la mise au point d'agents thérapeutiques destinés à éliminer l'infection à virus de l'immunodéficience humaine. Ces gènes codent des produits qui semblent être nécessaires à la réplication du VIH, comme le prouve le fait que l'infection à VIH est inhibée dans les cellules où l'expression de ces gènes a été rétro-régulée. L'invention se rapporte en outre à des procédés permettant d'identifier des gènes cellulaires supplémentaires comme cibles thérapeutiques dans le but d'éliminer l'infection à VIH, et à des procédés d'utilisation de ces gènes cellulaires et de leurs produits codés dans des tests de triage permettant de sélectionner des inhibiteurs supplémentaires du VIH.
