Disclosed herein are siRNA compositions and methods useful for inhibiting expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) isoforms. Such compositions and methods further involve siRNA capable of selectively targeting angiogenic VEGF isoforms while selectively sparing anti-angiogenic isoforms. Diseases which involve angiogenesis stimulated by overexpression of VEGF, such as diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration and many types of cancer, can be treated by administering small interfering RNAs as disclosed.
L'invention porte sur des compositions d'ARNsi et sur des procédés utiles pour inhiber l'expression des isoformes du facteur de croissance endothélial vasculaire (VEGF). De telles compositions et de tels procédés mettent encore en jeu un ARNsi capable de cibler de façon sélective les isoformes angiogéniques de VEGF angiogéniques tout en épargnant de façon sélective les isoformes anti-angiogéniques. Des maladies qui mettent en jeu une angiogenèse stimulée par une surexpression de VEGF, telles qu'une rétinopathie diabétique, une dégénérescence maculaire liée à l'âge et de nombreux types de cancer, peuvent être traités par administration des petits ARN interférents de l'invention.
