Compounds of formulas (1) and (2), wherein the variables of X, Y and R' are herein defined in the specification, promote bone information and are thus useful in treating osteoporosis, bone fracture or deficiency, primary or secondary hyperparathyroidism, periodontal disease or defect, metastatic bone disease, osteolytic bone disease, post-plastic surgery, post-prosthetic joint surgery, and post-dental implantation. The figure shows the structure and activity of several compounds of the invention namely, nevastatin, lovastatin and pravastatin, as tested in the in vitro BMP-promoter based assay.

L'invention a trait à des composés répondant aux formules (1) et (2), dans lesquelles les variables X, Y et R?1¿ sont définies dans le descriptif, qui stimulent la formation de l'os et, partant, se révèlent efficaces en matière de traitement de l'ostéoporose, des fractures de l'os, de la déficience osseuse, de l'hyperparathyroïdie primaire ou secondaire, de la parodontopathie ou d'anomalies périodontiques et d'affections osseuses ostéolytiques. Ils sont également utilisés en chirurgie post-réparatrice, en chirurgie articulaire prothétique et à la suite de mise en place d'implant dentaire. La Figure montre la structure et l'activité de plusieurs composés de l'invention, en l'occurrence, la mévastatine, la lovastatine et la pravastine, comme testées dans l'épreuve in vitro fondée sur le promoteur de la protéine morphogénétique de l'os (BMP).
