The invention concerns compositions and methods for the diagnosis and treatment of neoplastic cell growth and proliferation in mammals, including humans. The invention is based upon the identification of genes that are amplified in the genome of tumor cells. Such gene amplification is expected to be associated with the overexpression of the gene product as compared to normal cells of the same tissue type and contribute to tumorigenesis. Accordingly, the proteins encoded by the amplified genes are believed to be useful targets for the diagnosis and/or treatment (including prevention) of certain cancers, and may act as predictors of the prognosis of tumor treatment. The present invention is directed to novel polypeptides and to nucleic acid molecules encoding those polypeptides. Also provided herein are vectors and host cells comprising those nucleic acid sequences, chimeric polypeptide molecules comprising the polypeptides of the present invention fused to heterologous polypeptide sequences, antibodies which bind to the polypeptides of the present invention and to methods for producing the polypeptides of the present invention.
L'invention concerne des compositions et méthodes de diagnostic et de traitement de la croissance cellulaire néoplasique chez les mammifères et notamment chez l'homme. L'invention est basée sur l'identification de gènes amplifiés dans le génome de cellules tumorales. Une telle amplification génique est supposée être associée à la surexpression du produit génique par comparaison avec les cellules normales du même type de tissu, et favorise la tumorigenèse. En conséquence, on suppose que les protéines codées par les gènes amplifiés constituent des cibles utiles dans le diagnostic et/ou le traitement (notamment la prévention) de certains cancers, et peuvent agir en tant qu'élément de prédiction du pronostic de traitement tumoral. L'invention concerne des nouveaux polypeptides, des molécules d'acides nucléiques codant ces polypeptides, des vecteurs et cellules hôtes comprenant ces séquences d'acides nucléiques, des molécules de polypeptides chimères comprenant les polypeptides de l'invention fusionnés à des séquences de polypeptides hétérologues; elle concerne encore des anticorps qui se fixent sur les polypeptides de l'invention, ainsi que des procédés de production desdits polypeptides.
