The present invention provides methods of treating a coronavirus infection, and methods of reducing viral load, or reducing the time to viral clearance, or reducing morbidity or mortality in the clinical outcomes, in patients suffering from a coronavirus infection. The present invention further provides methods of reducing the risk that an individual will develop a pathological coronavirus infection, that has clinical sequelae. The present invention further provides methods of reducing the risk that an individual will develop SARS. The present invention further provides methods of treating SARS. The methods generally involve administering a therapeutically effective amount of a Type I or Type III interferon receptor agonist and/or a Type II interferon receptor agonist for the treatment of a coronavirus infection.
La présente invention concerne des méthodes de traitement d'une infection à coronavirus, et des méthodes de diminution d'une charge virale, ou de diminution du temps de neutalisation virale, ou de diminution de la morbidité ou de la mortalité, en termes d'avantages cliniques, chez des patients atteints d'une infection à coronavirus. L'invention concerne également des méthodes qui permettent de diminuer le risque pour un individu de développer une infection à coronavirus pathologique ou de présenter des séquelles cliniques. L'invention concerne en outre des méthodes qui permettent de diminuer le risque pour un individu de développer le SRAS, ainsi que des méthodes de traitement du SRAS. Les méthodes de l'invention consistent généralement à administrer une quantité thérapeutiquement efficace d'un agoniste du récepteur de l'interféron de type I ou de type III et/ou d'un agoniste du récepteur de l'interféron de type II, en vue de traiter une infection à coronavirus.
