There is provided a topical composition for treating, preventing or ameliorating hyperpigmentation in human skin. The composition has a de- pigmenting agent in an amount effect to reduce or diminish pigmentation at an area of skin to which it is applied, and a cosmetically or pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle. Suitable de-pigmenting agents include 3,3'-thiodipropionic acid, thiazolidine-2-carboxylic acid, kaempferol-7-glucoside, perilla oil, and clofibrate and clofibrate analogs and derivatives. There is also provided methods for treating, preventing or ameliorating hyperpigmentation in human skin.

L'invention concerne une composition topique pour traiter, pr~venir ou am~liorer l'hyperpigmentation cutan~e chez l'homme. Cette composition comporte un agent de d~pigmentation, en quantit~ suffisante pour r~duire la pigmentation de la partie de la peau sur laquelle elle est appliqu~e, ainsi qu'un excipient cosm~tiquement ou pharmaceutiquement acceptable. Les agents de d~pigmentation appropri~s comprennent l'acide 3,3'-thiodipropionique, l'acide thiazolidine-2-carboxylique, le kaempferol-7-glucoside, l'huile de p~rilla, le clofibrate ainsi que les produits analogues et d~riv~s du clofibrate. La pr~sente invention porte ~galement sur des m~thodes pour traiter, pr~venir ou am~liorer l'hyperpigmentation cutan~e chez l'homme.
