Abstract of the Disclosure Novel compositions comprising mixtures of hydro- genphosphonates and methylphosphonates are disclosed which are useful as flame retardants in organic resins. Also disclosed is a method of making these novel com- positions by reacting a cyclic phosphite with methanol in the presence of a suitable acid catalyst.
