ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A powdered or granular detergent composition of reduced foaming tendency, particularly when employed in automatic washing machines. The composition contains a foam control substance consisting of sodium tripolyphosphate sodium sulphate or sodium perforate having on its surface an organopolysiloxane antifoam agent which is at least partially enclosed within a mixture of a water-insoluble wax and a water-insoluble emulsifying agent.
