Use of an isolated polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence having a sequence iden- tityofat least 80%, with the amino acid sequence represented by Gly Asn Ser Asp Asp Phe Leu Ser Gln Gln Pro Glu Arg Pro Arg AspVal Lys Leu Ala Arg (SEQ IDNO: 2), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, for preparing a medicament for the treatment ofa mammal to increase the body fat mass of said mammal, or to prevent or reduce the loss of body fat mass of said mammal. The polypeptide may comprise an amino acid sequence having a sequence identity of atleast 80% with the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1, and may be the polypeptide the monomeric proenzyme of tartrate- resistant acid phosphatase type 5 (TRAP). A pharmaceuticalcomposition comprising the polypeptide. The polypeptide is useful for increasing the bodyfatmass of a mammal.
