The invention concerns a protective composition obtained by slow polymerisation in situ, after injecting at room temperature into a sheath enclosing the strands of a cable, monomer or prepolymer reagents in the presence of a swelling solvent. The monomer reagents can be identical or different vinyl monomers polymerisable by free radical polymerisation, or bifunctional or trifunctional compounds of two different types reacting mutually resulting in bifunctional or trifunctional polymers, or still mixtures of said compounds. Said composition may further contain an anticorrosive agent. The solvent can be selected among esters of benzoic acid, phthalic acid or aliphatic acid saturated or unsaturated having in the aliphatic chain at least 10 carbon atoms, aromatic or polycyclic hydrocarbons, terpenes and phenolic esters optionally slightly polymerised. The resulting composition has viscoelastic properties which enables it to enhance the cable dampening.
Cette composition de protection est obtenue par polymérisation lente in situ, après injection à température ambiante dans une gaine entourant les torons d'un câble, de réactifs monomères ou de prépolymères en présence d'un solvant de gonflement. Les réactifs monomères peuvent être des monomères vinyliques identiques ou différents, polymérisables par voie radicalaire, ou encore des composés bi ou trifonctionnels de deux types différents réagissant entre eux en donnant des polymères bi ou tridimensionnels, ou encore des mélanges des composés précédents. Elle peut contenir en outre un agent anti-corrosion. Le solvant peut être choisi parmi les esters de l'acide benzoïque, de l'acide phtalique ou d'acides aliphatiques saturés ou insaturés ayant dans la chaîne aliphatique au moins 10 atomes de carbone, les hydrocarbures aromatiques ou polycycliques, les terpènes et les éthers phénoliques éventuellement faiblement polymérisés. La composition obtenue a un caractère visco-élastique qui lui permet d'améliorer l'amortissement propre du câble.
