Compositions useful for treating an individual with nicotine dependence comprising a combination of an .alpha.3.beta.4 nicotinic receptor antagonist and a nicotine metabolite are disclosed. More particularly, compositions comprising dextromethorphan, dextrorphan or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and further comprising cotinine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are disclosed. Methods of alleviating nicotine withdrawal symptoms and/or tobacco usage by administration of these compositions are also disclosed.
La présente invention concerne des compositions utilisables pour traiter un individu ayant une dépendance à la nicotine, lesdites compositions comprenant la combinaison d'un antagoniste du récepteur nicotinique 03^4 et un métabolite de la nicotine. L'invention concerne plus particulièrement des compositions comprenant du dextrométhorphan, du dextrorphan ou un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable de ceux-ci et comprenant en outre de la cotinine ou un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable de celle-ci. L'invention concerne également des procédés permettant de soulager les symptômes de sevrage de nicotine et/ou de réduire l'usage du tabac par l'administration de ces compositions.
