ABSTRACT Compositions of soluble alkali metal silicates with selected surfactants exhibiting high detergency, low- foaming and superior wetting abilities are disclosed for use as concrete supplementation and completion agents. Treatment of cementitious materials with such agents has been found to increase their density and strength, and decrease their porosity, by penetrating deeply into the porous matrix of hardened substrates and augmenting the silicate polymer strands in the substrate. Application of such agents to concrete forms or structures by applying a fine, even spray of the agent to the surface of the con- crete, is used for waterproofing the forms and structures and to drive out deleterious foreign matter such as salt from the pores of the concrete matrix.
