Compositions for use in the regulation of subnormal pH values in the intestinal tract and for treatment of bowel diseases. The compositions comprise a coating and a substantially insoluble alkaline material confined within said coating, the composition being adapted so as to ensure the availability of an amount of said pH regulating alkaline material in the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract exhibiting subnormal pH values. E.g. in the proximal small intestine, the mid small intestine, the distal small intestine, the caecum, the ascending colon, the transverse colon, the descending colon, the sigmoid colon and/or the rectum. The compositions may also comprise a medicament for treatment of bowel diseases, e.g. 5-aminosalycylic acid for the treatment of Crohn's disease and colitis ulcerosa. The administration may be oral compositions or enemas or suppositories.
L'invention concerne des compositions utilisées dans la régulation des valeurs de pH subnormales des voies intestinales et dans le traitement des maladies de l'intestin. Les compositions comprennent un enrobage et un matériau alcalin sensiblement insoluble renfermé dans cet enrobage, la composition étant conçue de façon à permettre la disponibilité d'une quantité de ce matériau alcalin régulateur du pH dans le lumen des voies gastro-intestinales présentant des valeurs de pH subnormales, par exemple, dans l'intestin grêle proximal, l'intestin grêle central, l'intestin grêle distal, le caecum, le côlon ascendant, le côlon transversal, le côlon descendant, le côlon pelvien et/ou le rectum. Les compositions peuvent également comporter un médicament destiné au traitement des maladies de l'intestin, par exemple, l'acide 5-aminosalicylique destiné au traitement de la maladie de Crohn et des colites ulcéreuses. L'administration s'effectue à l'aide de compositions orales, de lavements ou de suppositoires.
