An improved flexible composite of manufacture especially suitable for use as a ballistic resistant body armor, said improved penetration resistant composite of the type comprising at least two penetration resistant layers, each layer comprising a flexible fibrous substrate a fibrous network having a plurality of penetration resistant elements on a surface thereof, wherein at least one of the inner layers further comprising a fibrous element comprising fibrous network positioned between said substrate and said penetration resistance element.
