The present invention provides novel 2,6-diisopropyl phenol2,6-diisopropyl phenol analogs and sterile, stable pharmaceutical compositions of 2,6- diisopropyl phenol 2,6-diisopropyl phenol and analogs thereof useful as an antioxidant in the treatment of ischemic injury including stroke and other cerebral injury. 2,6-diisopropyl phenol or its analogs are administered in a dosage effective to produce blood levels and brain levels of the drug that can prevent free radical damage associated with ischemic injury.
La présente invention se rapporte à de nouveaux analogues du 2,6-diisopropylphénol, et à des compositions pharmaceutiques stables et stériles de 2,6-diisopropylphénol et d'analogues de ce derniers, qui servent d'antioxydant dans le traitement d'une lésion ischémique, notamment d'un accident ischémique cérébral et d'autres lésions cérébrales. Le 2,6-diisopropylphénol ou ses analogues sont administrés selon un dosage permettant de produire des niveaux du médicament dans le sang et dans le cerveau qui peuvent prévenir les dégâts causés par les radicaux libres lors d'une lésion ischémique.
