Abstract of the Disclosure Amide compounds such as N-(phenyl)propenamide and N-(phenyl)-2-methylpropenamide are added to certain diene polymers such as SBR, NBR and natural rubber, preferably prior to compounding with reinforcing agents such as carbon black, thereby improving the hardening resistance of the subsequently sulfer vulcanized polymer.
