ABSTRACT The compost apparatus is provided with a plurality of indentations provided over the cylindrical side surface of a drum member of the compost apparatus, the indentations being so formed as to provide hand or finger holds on an outside of the drum member for manually rotating the drum member, and to provide lifting members on an inside of the drum member for lifting the organic waste material held by the compost apparatus to cause a tumble action as the drum member is rotated. The drum member is rotatably supported by a bass member which preferably comprises four rollers. The apparatus is easy to manually rotate and provides effective mixing and aeration of the composting organic waste material.
