ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a composite insulator of plastic of the type used for high voltage exposed power lines, consisting of a glass fibre reinforced plastic rod, plastic sheds surrounding the rod, and fittings installed on the rod ends. The glass fibres are arranged in the plastic rod with their axes parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rod and consist of a glass which has either a low or no boron content.
