A sensing element (12) adapted to, at least in part, be inserted into a mammalian body. The sensing element (12) is made up of a core of a structurally robust metal (24) and a plated portion made of an electrochemically active metal (26) conjoined to at least a portion of the core (24). This sensing element (12) may be used as part of a method for the continuous monitoring of analyte within a mammalian body. The method includes inserting at least a portion of sensing element (12) into the mammalian body and measuring any electric current produced by at least of portion of the Sensor (12).
L'invention concerne un détecteur (12) destiné à être introduit au moins partiellement dans le corps d'un mammifère. Ce détecteur (12) est formé d'une partie noyau comprenant un métal (24) structurellement robuste et d'une partie plaquée comprenant un métal (26) électrochimiquement actif associé à une partie au moins du noyau (24). Ce détecteur (12) peut être utilisé dans une méthode permettant de mesurer en continu un analyte dans le corps d'un mammifère.
