A compound is provided having the means of intumescence at temperatures above 195°C to 220°C. The compound is an intumescent powder defined by the molar ratios (2.20 to 3.70) SiO2/(0.20 to 0.35) Li2O: (0.65 to 0.8)(NA2O + K2O) where the coefficients of Li2O and of (Na2O + K2O) total 1.00 and thermoplastic material having a plastic state at less than 195°C. If the thermoplastic contains a halogen, as does Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) the halogen acts as a flame retardant in the event of combustion and prevents complete burning of the plastic. If there is as filler mined with the compound which is endothermic this assists with the fire retardant effect of the compound.
On propose un composé possédant une capacité d'intumescence à des températures supérieures 195 degrés C jusqu'à 220 degrés C. Le composé est une poudre intumescente se caractérise par des rapports molaires de (2,20 à 3,70) SiO2/(0,20 à 0,35) Li2O: (0,65 à 0,8)(Na2O + K2O), où les coefficients de Li2O et de (Na2O + K2O) égalent, au total, 1,00, et un matériau thermoplastique à l'état de plastique à moins de 195 degrés C. Si le thermoplastique contient un halogène, comme le poly(chlorure de vinyle) (PVC), l'halogène joue le rôle d'ignifugeant en cas de combustion, et empêche le plastique de se consumer entièrement. Si un agent de remplissage endothermique entoure le composé, cela accroîtra l'effet ignifugeant.
