The invention relates to a compounding method for producing impact-modified thermoplastic compositions having a low content of volatile organic compounds (hereinafter referred to as VOC, "volatile organic substances"), wherein lower- cost polymeric raw materials having a comparatively high initial content of VOC can be utilized, so as to lower the production costs for producing such VOC-reduced polymer compositions. The method according to the invention is a compounding method, wherein (i) a mixture having a water content (based on said mixture produced in step (i) of 2 to 40% by weight is produced from - the total amount or a partial amount of the component B utilized, - optionally the total amount or partial amounts of the components A, C and/or D - and 0.4 to 7 parts by weight (based on the total composition of A+B+C+D=100 parts by weight) of water, (ii) the mixture resulting from step (i) is heated to a temperature ranging between 200°C and 350°C with the corresponding total amounts and partial amounts of the components A to D of the composition remaining after step (i) in a compounding unit by supplying thermal and/or mechanical energy and are thus melted, mixed and dispersed in each other, - wherein the compounding unit has at least one melting zone, a mixing zone and a degassing zone, - wherein the mixture resulting from step (i) can be metered, entirely or optionally partially, together with the remaining amounts of the components A to D of the composition into the compounding unit upstream to the melting zone, or as an alternative, downstream of the melting zone directly into the melt of the remaining amounts of the components A to D of the composition, - wherein negative pressure is applied to the degassing zone of the compounding unit such that the absolute pressure p abs in said zone is no more than 800 mbar, (iii) the melt resulting from step (ii) is re-solidified by cooling when exiting from the compounding unit.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de compoundage destiné à la fabrication de compositions thermoplastiques à résilience modifiée comportant des composés organiques volatils ou "VOC" (Volatile Organic Compound), qui sont présents en faible proportion, et qui permettent la mise en uvre de matières brutes polymères moins chères présentant une teneur initiale en VOC comparativement élevée, de façon à pouvoir abaisser les coûts de production pour la fabrication de telles compositions polymères à moindre teneur en VOC. Ce procédé de compoundage comporte plusieurs étapes. Une première étape (i) consiste à réaliser un mélange dont la teneur en eau, rapportée au mélange obtenu lors de l'étape (i), représente de 2 à 40% du poids de la quantité totale ou partielle de la quantité du composant B mis en uvre, éventuellement de la quantité totalité ou partielle des composants A, C et/ou D, ainsi que de 0,4 à 7 parties en poids d'eau rapportée à la composition totale A+B+C+D représentant 100 parties en poids. Une deuxième étape (ii) consiste à prendre le mélange issu de l'étape (i) précédente et à le porter à une température de l'ordre de 200 à 350°C avec les quantités totales respectives des composants A à D de la composition, éventuellement avec les quantités partielles restantes des composants A à D de la composition, dans une unité de préparation de mélange par apport d'énergie thermique et/ou mécanique aboutissant à leur ouverture par fusion, à leur mélange et à leur dispersion mutuelle. En l'occurrence, l'unité de préparation de mélange comporte au moins une zone de fusion, une zone de mélange, et une zone de dégazage. En outre, le mélange issu de l'étape (i) peut être dosé complètement ou éventuellement partiellement conjointement avec les quantités restantes des composants A à D de la composition avant la zone de fusion dans l'unité de préparation de mélange ou autrement après la zone de fusion, directement dans la matière fondue des quantités restantes des composants A à D de la composition. Une dépression est réalisée dans la zone de dégazage de l'unité de préparation de mélange, de façon que la pression absolue pabs ne dépasse pas dans cette zone les 800 mbar. Une dernière étape (iii) consiste à prendre la matière fondue issue de l'étape précédente (ii) à la sortie de l'unité de préparation de mélange et à la resolidifier par refroidissement.
