A method of controlling weight gain in an animal comprises administering to the animal one or more sterol and/or stanol derivatives having the following formulae (I, II, III) wherein R is a sterol or stanol moiety, R2 is derived form ascorbic acid and R3 is hydrogen or any metal, alkali earth metal, or alkali metal; and all salts thereof.
L'invention concerne une méthode destinée à réguler la prise de poids chez un animal et consistant à administrer à cet animal un ou plusieurs dérivés de stérol et/ou de stanol représentés par les formules (I), (II) et (III), dans lesquelles R est un fragment de stérol ou de stanol, R2 est un dérivé d'acide ascorbique et R3 est hydrogène ou n'importe quel métal, métal alcalinoterreux ou métal alcalin, ainsi que des sels desdits composés.
