The present invention is directed to polypeptides (e.g., fragments) derived from P-glycoprotein and caveolin-1 which are capable of inhibiting the interaction between these two proteins. Inhibition of this interaction leads to increase of efflux of compounds that are transported by P-gp. The invention further includes methods of treating patients having diseases that benefit from increased P-gp-mediated efflux. Such diseases include neoplasms such as cancer and neurological diseases such as neurodegenerative diseases.

La présente invention concerne des polypeptides (par ex. des fragments) dérivés de P-glycoprotéine et de cavéoline-1 qui sont capables d'inhiber l'interaction entre ces deux protéines. L'inhibition de cette interaction conduit à une augmentation du flux de composés qui sont transportés par P-gp. L'invention concerne également des procédés de traitement de patients souffrant de maladies bénéficiant d'un flux induit par P-gp accru. De telles maladies sont par exemple les néoplasmes tels que le cancer et les maladies neurologiques telles que les maladies neurodégénératives.
