Psoralen compounds are synthesized which have substitutions on the 4, 4', 5' and 8 positions of the psotalen, which permit enhanced binding to nucleic acid of pathogens. Higher psoralen binding levels and lower mutagenicity are described, resulting in safer, more efficient, and reliable inactivation of pathogens in blood products. The invention contemplates inactivation methods using the new psoralens which do not compromise the function of blood products for transfusion.
Des psoralènes obtenus par synthèse présentent une substitution aux positions 4, 4', 5' et 8, ce qui permet d'améliorer leur liaison à l'acide nucléique d'organismes pathogènes. Les niveaux supérieurs de liaison du psoralène et une faible mutagénicité ont pour résultat une inactivation plus sûre, plus efficace et plus fiable des organismes pathogènes dans des produits sanguins. L'invention concerne des procédés d'inactivation au moyen des nouveaux psoralènes qui ne compromettent pas l'utilité des produits sanguins pour des transfusions.
