ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Compositions having a physiological effect on the skin and mucous membranes of the body include a cold receptor stimulating compound of the formula R1R2NX, where R1 is hydrogen, alkyl or cycloalkyl, R2 is alkyl, alkylcycloalkyl, alkylcycloalkylalkyl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkylalkyl, or R1 and R2 together represent alkylene, and X represents R3CO-, R4SO2- or R5R6NCO, where R3-6 generally represent hydrogen or various alkyl-containing groups. The compositions are of relatively low volatility and have a pronounced physiological cooling effect, in many cases more persistent than that obtained with menthol, without the attendent disadvantages of a strong minty odour. - 1 -
