The car wash industry has used dryers since it's inception. They are used to rid the cars of excess droplets of water that is left after the rinsing process has occurred. The removal of these droplets are advantageous for several reasons. First, removal will reduce stains or spots due to water drying, which decreases the effectiveness of the wash. Second, in cold climates, it would be advantageous to remove droplets of moisture prior to returning outdoors, eliminating freezing with door handles, locks and windows. The type of dryers in the car wash industry have up to this point been forced air units, meaning that the high velocity air was generated through the use of fans or turbines. The dryer apparatus that is proposed uses compressed air as the medium, where it is accelerated through an air knife and encapsulates (entrains) atmospheric air that surrounds the air knife adding to the overall effective air flow. The system takes air compressed through an air compressor, and directs it to the automobile being dried, either on a manually operated wand, automated system or tunnel type apparatus. The use of compressed air will allow for more efficient operation than would be available using conventional drying techniques.
