An elongate structural wood waste I-beam (38) and a method of making that wood waste I-beam, the wood waste I-beam comprises flange portions (40) extending parallel to a longitudinal axis of the I-beam, the flange portions (40) are transversely interconnected by a central web portion (43), the wood waste I- beam (38) includes at least a major volume being composed of compressed and adhesively bonded elongate wood strands (24) of nonuniform length, width and thickness prior the compression, the wood strands (24) are divided from a piece of various types of wood waste (20) and are placed on a mold (52) and are compressed while at their wood softening temperature after being heated.
