An apparatus for separating mixed material of different flowability comprises a hollow drum driven to rotate arid having a perforated outer drum surface, about a portion of which is wrapped an endless compression belt adapted to apply pressure onto the hollow drum. For stripping material which remains on the outer surface of the hollow drum after compression, a stripping blade is provided which is arranged to float essentially radially with respect to the drum.
