A lens molding method and system which uses glass molds (204, 206) held by floating cannisters (200, 202) with a cylindrical dam (210) to define the edge of a molding cavity (99) into which a preheated lens blank is inserted. Once between the molds (204, 206), the lens blank is additionally surface heated, molded and cooled under pressure.

Cette invention concerne un procédé et un système de moulage de lentilles ophtalmologiques qui font intervenir des moules en verre (204, 206) maintenus par des cartouches flottantes (200, 202) avec un barrage cylindrique (210) pour définir le bord d'une cavité de moulage (99) dans laquelle est insérée une ébauche de lentille préchauffée. Après sa mise en place entre les moules (204, 206), l'ébauche est en outre soumis à un chauffage de surface, moulée et refroidie sous pression.
