A compressor, comprises a hermetic housing having a refrigerant inlet and a refrigerant outlet, a motor having a stator and a rotor positioned within the housing, a crankshaft including an eccentric, the crankshaft rotatably engaged with the rotor, first and second bearings positioned within the housing, the crankshaft rotatably supported by at least one of the bearings, and a cylinder block moveable relative to the bearings, the cylinder block defining a cylinder bore extending therethrough and configured to receive a refrigerant therein, the eccentric positioned in and engaging the cylinder bore whereby rotation of the d crankshaft and the eccentric causes reciprocating translation of the cylinder block with respect to the bearings to compress the refrigerant from a suction pressure to a discharge pressure. The hermetic housing comprises a first portion and a second portion connected to the first portion, the first and second bearings being disposed between the first and second portions of the hermetic housing and pressed together by the first and second portions of the hermetic housing.
