ABSTRACT A COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY A compressor assembly for generating compressed gas, especially compressed air, comprises an internal combustion engine, a com- pressor and at least one exhaust gas turbo charger. The com- pressor is interposed between a suction conduit and a pressure conduit and is driven by the internal combustion engine by sub- stantially the entire mechanical energy output thereof. The or each exhaust gas turbo charger includes a drive portion and a compressor portion, the drive portion being connected to an exhaust gas pipe of the internal combustion engine. The com- pressor portion of the exhaust gas turbo charger is arranged in one of the said conduits of the compressor. This arrangement improves the overall efficiency of the compressor assembly, i.e. the ratio between the drive energy required and the quan- tity of gas compressed at a predetermined pressure ratio.
