ABSTRACT A hermetically sealed rotary compressor and its method of assembly are disclosed, which compressor and method utilize an end plate (80) having an annular groove (83) on its interior surface and an annular recess (87) on its exterior surface. A securing weld (82) in the centroidal plane of the end plate is provided at the junction of a compressor housing mated with the end plate annular groove.
