A computed tomography method for determining a volumetric rep-resentation of a sample (13) comprises using reconstructed volume data (23) of the sample (13) from x-ray projections (21) of the sample (13) taken by an x-ray system (10), comput-ing a set of artificial projections (26) of said sample (13) by a forward projection (25) from said reconstructed volume data (23), and determining, essentially from process data (21, 23) of said reconstruction (22) including said reconstructed volume data (23) and/or said x-ray projections (21), individ-ual confidence measures (28) for single voxels of said volume data based on calculating, for each of said measured x-ray projections, the difference between the contribution of this measured x-ray projection to the voxel under inspection and the contribution from a corresponding artificial projection to the voxel under inspection.
