A computer aided detection method and system to assist radiologists in the reading of medical images (1000). The method and system has particular application to the area of mammography including detection of clustered microcalcifications and densities (3000). A microcalcification detector is provided wherein individual detections are rank ordered and classified (5000), and one of the features for classification is derived using a multilayer perceptron.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un système de détection conçus pour assister des radiologistes dans la lecture d'images médicales (1000). Lesdits système et procédé sont particulièrement destinés au domaine de la mammographie y compris de la détection de microcalcifications groupées et de densités (3000). Cette invention a trait à un détecteur de microcalcifications, par le biais duquel des détections individuelles sont classées par ordre de grandeur et classifiées (5000), et une des caractéristiques de la classification est dérivée au moyen d'un perceptron multicouche.
