X-ray images are displayed at both high-resolution and high illumination with annotation superimposed in registration therewith to point out suspected abnormalities identified through a process in which the x-ray images are digitized and the digitized information is subjected to feature extraction processing. For example, the x-ray images are displayed at both high-resolution and high illumination in the form of x-ray film images displayed on a light box while the annotation information is selectively superimposed on the same image by a separate imaging system co-acting with the light box. In this manner, the radiologist can view either the x-ray film alone, in the conventional manner, or the same x-ray film, at the same position and at the same high resolution and at the same or substantially the same illumination level but with annotation information superimposed and in registration therewith. In addition, alternative ways are disclosed for displaying the high resolution x-ray image and for selectively superimposing the annotation information thereon.
On affiche des radiographies avec à la fois un niveau d'éclairage élevé et une haute définition, conjointement à une légende superposée de façon à permettre le repérage d'anomalies recherchées, identifiées au moyen d'un processus dans lequel les radiographies sont numérisées puis soumises à un traitement permettant d'extraire les particularités. On affiche, par exemple, les radiographies avec à la fois un niveau d'éclairage élevé et une haute définition sous la forme d'images de films radiographiques, sur une boîte à lumière, tout en superposant de manière sélective, sur une même image, les données de légende au moyen d'un système d'imagerie distinct fonctionnant en association avec la boîte à lumière. De cette manière, le radiologue peut visualiser soit uniquement le film radiographique, comme cela se fait habituellement, soit le même film radiographique, en position identique et avec la même haute définition et le même niveau d'éclairage ou presque, mais auquel on a superposé, en parfaite concordance, les données de légende. L'invention concerne en outre d'autres possibilités d'affichage d'une radiographie haute définition ainsi que d'autres manières de superposer les données de légende sur une radiographie.
