An anti-theft computer alarm device for detecting and alerting against unauthorized removal of a computer. The device includes a casing, a locking element coupled to the casing and capable of being locked to the computer, and a motion detector mounted to the casing and operative to produce vibration signals in response to movement of the casing. An analyzer analyzes the vibration signals to determine whether or not they exceed a threshold corresponding to significant movement or impact. An alarm coupled to the analyzer is operative to emit a master alarm when the threshold of vibration signals detected has been exceeded, to emit a warning when the threshold has not been exceeded and to issue a master alarm in the event further motion is detected within a preset time-out period after the warning.
