2060891 9100575 PCTABS00003 A method for detecting and recording signals from an input device operatively connected to a digital computer and output from a target program accessible by the computer, the method comprising the steps of: a) loading recorder means into ROM of the computer; b) accessing a format table file with the recorder to get data representing predefined recording characteristics of the target program and configure the recorder to the target program; c) monitoring and interceding in the control of the operations of the computer with the recorder; d) accessing the target program with the digital computer; e) recording to a datafile signals from the input device, the signals representing input to the target program, and a sequence of screens produced by the target program.
