ABSTRACT Method and apparatus for matching a selected color with predetermined available paint colors wherein a portable color meter is used to analyze a selected color and store chromaticity data representing the hue, chroma and brightness of the selected color. That stored chromaticity data is coupled to a computer which compares it with stored chromaticity data in the computer repre- senting available color formulas and then selects one of the stored paint formulas most closely matching the chromaticity data representing the selected color.
