2098276 9210704 PCTABS00013 A concealable surgical light device, such as for a birthing room, has a fixed housing (15) and a single door (10) for supporting the light (5) on one side and decorative ceiling panels on the other side. The door (10) is rotatably attached to the fixed housing (15). In a closed position of the door (10), the light (5) is concealed within the ceiling structure (16), and the decorative panels are flush with the ceiling (16). In an open position, the light (5) is deployable as it faces into the room. Rotation of the door (10) between the two positions is powered by a motor (64) acting through an actuator (58) and a linkage system. The linkage system includes two first arms (70, 72) rotatably connected to an actuator rod (58a) and fixed to a pivot shaft (78) such that extension and retraction of the rod (58a) pivot the shaft (78). Two second arms (74, 76) are fixed to opposite ends of the shaft (78) and pivotally connect to two third arms (80, 82), in turn connected to the door (10). Pivoting the shaft (78) rotates the second arms (74, 76) which, in turn, move the third arms (80, 82) up or down to close or open the door (10).
