ABSTRACT Water-containing explosives, such as emulsions, slurries and water gels, are sensitized in their emulsion (concentrate) phases with sensitizing energy release agents based on nitroalkanes and nitroalkane blends including arene coupling agents. The sensitizing energy release agents are miscible with the concentrate phase and remain stable therein.
